This weekend I arrived in France very early. I left my house at 3.30am and picked up Suzannah on the way to the bus which we got in Sprucefield, Vanessa was already on the bus, we then got Liam Emma and Philip from Newry. The journey lasted about two hours, finally we got to the airport where we spent time looking round some shops and had a cup of coffee whilst waiting for the plane. The first plane we took was just after 8am. This brought us to Luton airport where we waited a further 3 hours. By this stage we were all very tiered and couldn’t wait to arrive in France. The second flight was a bit longer, so we all slept on the plane. Finally we all arrived in France, the nerves had started to kick in and we were all worried about meeting our families. Thankfully we had all had a small amount of contact with our exchange students, this made our meeting a wee bit easier. When I arrived at the house I was shown my room and organised my things. Julie then took me out to meet her friends and we went to 2 different houses. This was a good experience as I had to make conversation with everyone, but also as I had to follow a lot of different conversations, as the night went on I struggled more with understanding everything, although lots of the people practiced their English with me. Sunday, we slept a little later as I was still very tiered from the journey the previous day. After lunch we went on a tour around the local village and visited monuments and the port. (I had the great pleasure of visiting the dump!!!!)  We arrived back at the house at around 6ish and waited for Suzannah and Fanny to arrive for dinner, where we had crepes. They left round 10.30pm and I went to bed. Today we are at school and I am going to be with Emma all day. We are going to some English classes and will meet the rest of our group for lunch at 12ish. Perrine

This weekend I arrived at the airport by bus with my friends.  Our flight left Northern Ireland at around 8am to arrive in Luton Airport for after 9.30.  At this stage we were all very tired and we bought drinks and some food to wake ourselves up a bit. Our second flight was around 1pm but was delayed and we finally took off at 2pm.  We were very nervous when the aeroplane touched down but also very excited to be in France.  I was surprised how cold it was when I stepped outside the aeroplane because I was expecting the weather to be warmer in France.  I met Fanny and her family shortly after arriving and they seemed to be very pleasant people.  At first it was difficult to remember how to speak French because I was so nervous but after a while it got better.  The family and I drove back to Fanny’s house and I met many of her friends and she gave me a small tour of part of her town.  That night I was very tired from the early start which I had that morning and went to bed at around 10.30pm.  The following morning I awakened early and I went with my French family to a beautiful town.  However it was a very long drive.  I took many pictures of the town’s port and old buildings.  For lunch, we went to a cute little restaurant and ate some crepes.  Later that night Fanny and I met with Perrine and Julie at their house for dinner and we had a very good time.  We had crepes again for dinner but I did not mind, they were delicious. We left Julie’s house at around 10.30pm and I went straight to bed because I was so tired.

On Saturday I woke up at 3 O’clock to leave to go to Dublin airport. My parents picked up Liam and Emma and then drove us to Newry. Then we got a bus from Newry to Dublin. When we arrived in Dublin, we were very tired. We started to get a little nervous about meeting our correspondents. When we got to London we were even more tired because we didn’t get much sleep on the aeroplane. We waited in London airport for 3 hours, it was vey long. When we arrived in Brest airport we began to get extremely nervous. I was the worst. We met our correspondents, and they were all really nice to us. I spent the rest of the day getting to know my correspondent and his family. They took me to see a handball match, it was the first handball match that I have watched. It was very good, and I had fun. On Sunday, I woke up at 11 O’clock. Morgan thought that I had died! I was on the computer for 3 hours, I think I am hooked on Facebook. After that I went to the cinema with Morgan to see Invictus. It was fantastic! I really enjoyed it. It was a really exciting weekend but it was very long and very tiring. Philip Crookes
I woke up at 2.30am on Saturday morning I was very tired as I went to bed at 1.30am, I met Philip and Liam at 4am and they took me to Newry bus station where we got the bus to Dublin on the bus we met Vanessa, Perrine and Susannah. We arrived at Dublin airport at 6am we checked our bags in, got something to eat then we waited for our flight, we were all very tired and wanted to sleep. We boarded the flight at 8.20am I slept on the plane while Philip read a magazine, when we landed in Luton we had a few hours before we got our next flight, during this time we ate food read magazines and talked. Next we boarded the plane from Luton to Brest. We arrived in France at 4pm and my host family was waiting for me. They drove me around Brest but there was too many road works so we could not go very far. Next I went back to their house I went to bed for 1 hour because I was very tired. I woke up at 8pm and we all ate dinner. Next I went to bed at 9pm because I was still very tired I woke up on Sunday morning at 9pm because we were going to go on a trip we decided to visit the zoo which was 2 hours away Morgane drove us to the zoo I slept in the car because I was very tired. We went to McDonalds for lunch before going to the zoo. At the zoo the animals were very fascinating and there were a lot of animals I have never seen before. When we got home from the zoo I ate some toast then we all watched harry potter and the goblet of fire in French with English subtitles. After the film was over I went to bed because I had to get up early on Monday morning for school.  Emma Bissenden
